A height-adjustable side table is perhaps the most frequently used aid in everyday care: eating in bed, reading in an armchair, writing in a wheelchair, and providing storage for medication and care supplies. NORDIC care tables are height-adjustable from 68 to 108 cm, tiltable, and mobile – most models are eligible for reimbursement under HMV number 50.45.04.0010. In the care sector, several terms are used for the same product – this is not a manufacturer design choice, but purely terminological tradition. The only thing that matters is which function the product serves in everyday use:
Side table
General term – stands next to the bed, armchair or wheelchair. Height-adjustable, mobile, often with castors.
Bed table / overbed table
Pushed under the bed with the U- or C-base so that the tabletop extends directly over the person lying down – ideal for eating or reading in bed.
Nursing table / patient table
Same product type – terms from clinic and care environments. Reinforced construction, often with side shelf for professional use.
Continuous height adjustment from 68 to 108 cm
Covers every sitting and lying position – from the low sofa via the nursing bed to the standing workstation. Adjustment is tool-free in seconds.
Tiltable main top
Tilted continuously – ideal for reading, writing and tablet use. With a retaining strip to prevent books and devices from sliding.
Four lockable smooth-running castors
The table can be moved with minimal effort – even by the patients themselves. With the brake engaged, it stands rock-solid at the point of use.
Fixed side shelf (optional)
An additional small shelf at a fixed height – for drink, book, glasses, call bell. This means the table also takes on the function of a bedside table.
Beech decor or white
Beech decor blends harmoniously into home environments, white is the standard choice for clinics, rehab and nursing homes. Both surfaces are wipe-disinfectable.

What is the difference between a side table and a bed table?
Technically there is no difference – it is the same product. The name depends on the place of use: "bed table" or "overbed table" for use at the bed, "side table" for the armchair or wheelchair, "nursing table" or "patient table" in the clinical and care context.
Are the tables certified medical devices?
Yes, the entire range is CE-marked according to the EU Medical Device Regulation as Class I medical devices. They are specifically designed for daily use in clinics, nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities. Via your dealer account, you can see your conditions.
Do I really need the side shelf?
Practically always yes in daily care – it takes on the function of a bedside table and keeps medications, drinks and care items within reach, while the main top remains free for meals or reading.
When do I choose the LARGE variant?
When the tabletop must serve multiple purposes simultaneously – e.g. meal and tablet, or wound care with materials. LARGE is also the more robust choice for professional clinic and care use.
Does the table fit under every bed?
With standard nursing beds and most upholstered beds, yes. With very low beds or those with a continuous baseboard front, the undercarriage clearance must be checked before purchase – usually 11–13 cm of floor clearance is sufficient.
Can the tabletop really be tilted without everything sliding off?
Yes – the tiltable main top has a retaining strip that securely holds books, tablets and dishes when the top is tilted. Adjustment is tool-free in seconds.
