There are three fundamentally different solutions around the toilet. The key question: does the user only need support to stand up – or also a higher seat position?

Free-standing stand-up frame

A frame with armrests placed around the toilet without drilling. The existing WC stays untouched – ideal for rented homes.

Why a toilet support matters for many users

Standing up from the toilet is biomechanically demanding: the legs have to lift the body weight from a low seated position, often without anything to hold on to. As strength declines, after surgery or with joint problems, this becomes a fall risk. A toilet support solves three problems at once:

The armrests allow the user to push up with the arms instead of relying on the legs alone.

Raised seat position

Support frames raise the seat height (45–60 cm) – the knees bend less and standing up becomes noticeably easier.

What buyers should look for

What does the user actually need?

Only support to stand up (armrests or frame) – or also a higher seat position (support frame). This question decides the choice.

Rented or owned?

Free-standing solutions such as SIMPLY or ECONOMY need no drill holes and leave no traces – important for care in rented homes.

Load capacity

Standard up to 150–160 kg, bariatric up to 300 kg. For heavier users choose the XXL version – the solution must match the real load.

Height adjustment

The ECONOMY support frames cover the classic range at 45–60 cm; SIMPLY works with a higher armrest position (66–81 cm) for free-standing use.

Hygiene & cleaning

Powder-coated steel frames and closed surfaces are wipe-disinfectable – essential for clinics and care homes.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a toilet support and a commode chair?

A toilet support complements the existing toilet – with armrests or a higher support frame. A commode chair temporarily replaces the WC with a mobile chair and bucket. You will find those models under shower & commode chairs.

Does a toilet support need drilling?

The frames (SIMPLY, ECONOMY, COMFORT XXL) stand freely around or over the WC – no screws, no traces. The STAND UP armrests, however, are mounted directly on the WC.

When are simple armrests enough?

When the seat height of the existing toilet is fine and only a secure hold for standing up is missing. If the seat is too low, a support frame is the better choice.

Are there solutions for heavier users?

Yes. The COMFORT XXL (1-1297) carries up to 300 kg and its seat width adjusts between 55 and 85 cm. More bariatric aids can be found under XXL aids.

Does the support frame fit every toilet?

Usually yes – the ECONOMY models are designed for standard floor-mounted and wall-hung WCs. If in doubt, compare the dimensions of the existing WC with the inner dimensions of the frame.
