Walking trainers & walkers
Walking trainers and walkers with forearm supports provide secure support where a rollator is no longer enough. The user carries a large part of their body weight on the forearms, moves protected inside the frame and regains the confidence needed for early mobilisation, gait training and safe transfers. NORDIC has been producing the ALBE series in its own European production for more than 30 years – CE Class I and a 5-year warranty.
Comparison
Both aids support walking, but they solve different problems. What matters is how much body weight the aid carries:
Rollator
The user holds on to handles – for more mobile people who need balance and some support.
Walker with forearm supports
The forearms rest on padded supports. The aid carries a large part of the body weight – for gait training, rehab, early mobilisation and users with greater limitations.
Rule of thumb: If holding on to a rollator is no longer enough and the user needs support through the arms while standing, the walker is the right choice.

The type of height adjustment determines the right application. NORDIC offers all three – each also as an HR version with dual-function hand brake:

All models are powder-coated Class I medical devices with padded, wipeable arm supports. HR stands for the dual-function hand brake (drive and parking brake on the handle). The choice depends on adjustment type, wheel diameter and user weight.

How does a walker differ from a rollator?
The walker carries a large part of the body weight via forearm supports and provides more stability – ideal for gait training and users with greater limitations. The rollator suits more mobile people who need balance and support.
What does “HR” stand for?
The dual-function hand brake: two castors can be braked gradually via a lever on the handle (drive brake) and locked (parking brake) – without bending down. The HR version is available manual (1-2245-HR), with gas spring (1-2246-HR) and electric (1-2247-HR).
Which height adjustment is right?
Manual for a fixed user, gas spring when users change often, electric when standing up and transfers should be actively supported.
Are there walkers for heavier users?
Yes. The ALBE EL XXL has a reinforced frame for up to 250 kg and electric height adjustment. More bariatric solutions can be found under XXL aids.
Are the walkers suitable for outdoor use?
The RA models with large 200 mm wheels (ALBE-RA and ALBE GAS-RA) are designed for combined indoor and outdoor use.
Which walker suits tight spaces?
The ALBE models are compact at around 76 cm frame width and fit through standard doors; RA models are slightly wider. For very tight layouts, talk to us.
