Getting out of bed and transferring is one of the most physically demanding movements in everyday caregiving – and also one of the most frequent causes of falls. Bed trapezes, triangular grab bars, and floor-to-ceiling poles provide the user with a secure point of support for pulling themselves up, transferring, and standing. NORDIC manufactures both bed-mounted and freestanding, drill-free solutions in its own European production facilities – CE certified, Class I, with a 5-year warranty.
Lifting aids come in three fundamentally different design types. The choice depends on the bed, the structural conditions and the desired mobility:
Bed trapeze with triangle handle
Mounted on the nursing bed – the classic solution when a nursing bed with trapeze socket is available. The user pulls themselves up by the triangle handle.
Free-standing lifting aid
Independent bed lifter that works without a nursing bed. Simply positioned at the bed – ideal for normal single beds and the home-care setting.
Floor-to-ceiling pole
Telescopically clamped between floor and ceiling – without drilling, removable. Universally usable in bedroom, living room or bathroom.
The ASSISTENT floor-to-ceiling pole is designed as a modular system. You choose the main pole and add accessories according to the structural situation and the desired function:
Main pole (49-500)
The telescopic clamping pole, height-adjustable from 215 to 265 cm. Clamped between floor and ceiling – without drilling, without structural modifications.
Handle accessory (49-501)
Height-adjustable grab handle for attachment to the main pole – for support when standing up or as a support when standing.
Trapeze accessory (49-502)
Expands the pole into a full bed lifter with triangle handle – useful when the pole stands next to a bed without its own trapeze mount.
Plate for weak ceilings (49-503)
Pressure distribution plate for ceilings that absorb high point pressure poorly – such as wooden beam ceilings or older plaster ceilings.
Plate for sloped ceilings (49-504)
Adapter for sloped or curved ceilings – so the pole holds securely also in the attic or with older ceiling curvatures.
A total of ten models in three design types – from the individual triangle handle to the complete ASSISTENT kit. All products are Class I medical devices, powder-coated and rust-protected:

What is the difference between bed trapeze and floor-to-ceiling pole?
The bed trapeze is mounted on the nursing bed – it only works with a bed that has a corresponding socket. The floor-to-ceiling pole stands independently clamped between floor and ceiling and works regardless of the bed, anywhere in the room.
Does the floor-to-ceiling pole need to be drilled in?
No. The ASSISTENT pole is telescopically clamped between floor and ceiling – without drilling, without screws. This makes it ideal for rental apartments and temporary care.
Does the pole also hold in a wooden beam or old building ceiling?
Yes – with the appropriate accessory plate. For weak ceilings (wooden beams, old plaster) use Plate 49-503; it distributes the pressure over a larger area. For sloped ceilings, the Sloped ceiling plate 49-504.
Do I need a nursing bed for a bed trapeze?
For the bed trapeze handles (49-401, 49-407, 49-402) yes – they are hooked into the trapeze socket of a nursing bed. Those without a nursing bed choose the free-standing models TOM or BEN, or combine the ASSISTENT pole with the trapeze accessory (49-502).
Is there a variant for heavier users?
Yes. The Triangle handle XXL HEAVY (49-407) is reinforced for higher loads. More bariatric solutions can be found under XXL aids.
What is the retractor handle (49-402) for?
The strap retracts automatically after use – the handle thus does not hang in the bed all the time and is not in the way. Practical for changing users or when the handle should be out of sight between care occasions.
