Clarify the bed situation

Does the user have a care bed with a trapeze bracket or a normal bed? This decides between a bed trapeze handle and a freestanding solution.

Check the ceiling first

Concrete and solid ceilings are no problem. For timber-beam or old plaster ceilings the plate 49-503 is advisable, for sloping ceilings the sloping-ceiling plate 49-504.

Rented or owned property?

The ASSISTENT pole needs no drilling and leaves no trace – important for rented housing and temporary rehab phases.

Load capacity & XXL needs

Standard handles and freestanding solutions up to 100 kg, the ASSISTENT pole up to 150 kg. For bariatric needs use the trapeze handle XXL HEAVY (49-407).

Handle type

Classic trapeze handle for most users; the version with automatic retraction when the handle should be pulled out of reach after use.

Care bed compatibility

The bed trapeze handles are designed for common standardised care beds. If in doubt, check the bed’s socket dimensions before ordering.

What is the difference between a bed trapeze and a floor-to-ceiling pole?

The bed trapeze hooks onto the care bed and only works with a bed that has a suitable bracket. The floor-to-ceiling pole stands independently between floor and ceiling and works regardless of the bed, anywhere in the room.

Does the floor-to-ceiling pole need drilling?

No. The ASSISTENT pole is telescopically clamped between floor and ceiling – no drilling, no screws. That makes it ideal for rented flats and temporary care.

Does the pole also hold in a timber-beam or old ceiling?

With the right accessory plate: for weak ceilings the plate 49-503, which spreads the pressure over a large area, for sloping ceilings the sloping-ceiling plate 49-504. The load-bearing capacity of the ceiling must be checked beforehand.

Do I need a care bed for a bed trapeze?

For the handles 49-401, 49-407 and 49-402, yes – they hook into the trapeze bracket of a care bed. Without a care bed, TOM or BEN, the wall-mounted bed trapeze TORE (49-700) or the ASSISTENT pole with bed trapeze arm (49-502) are suitable.

Is there a version for heavier users?

Yes. The trapeze handle XXL HEAVY (49-407) is reinforced for higher loads. You can find further bariatric solutions under XXL aids.

What is the retractable handle (49-402) for?

The strap retracts automatically after use – the handle does not hang in the bed all the time or get in the way. Practical with changing users or when the handle should be out of sight between uses.
