Shower stools and benches provide crucial safety in the bathroom, where falls are most common. For over 30 years, NORDIC has been manufacturing sturdy, height-adjustable shower aids in its own European production facilities. Most models are listed in the German medical aids directory and are therefore eligible for reimbursement by health insurance companies – with a weight capacity of up to 300 kg, CE marking, and a 5-year warranty.
The bathroom is one of the most common locations for accidents in both home and institutional settings. Slippery tiles, confined spaces and the strain of standing while showering make the process risky – especially for elderly people or those with limited mobility. A stable shower stool noticeably reduces this risk, relieves nursing staff during transfers and enables the user to shower with dignity and independence.

Classic shower stool
Four stable legs, height-adjustable – the standard solution for most users. Available with standard or hygiene seat.
Shower stool with armrests
Additional stability when sitting down and standing up – ideal for reduced leg strength or unsteady balance.
Swivel seat
360° rotatable seat surface, lockable in four positions. Facilitates lateral entry or sitting down without the user having to turn their body.
XXL and Heavy-Duty models
Reinforced frame for bariatric care – up to 200 kg, as a shower bench up to 300 kg.
Wall-mounted folding seat
Space-saving wall installation – the solution for small, level-access or walk-in showers where a free-standing model would be in the way.
All models are white powder-coated, height-adjustable and equipped with non-slip rubber feet. Standard seat = closed seat surface; hygiene seat = with cutout for intimate care. As a complement, we also list two foldable shower chairs from the MOBILE series for mobile care:

All shower stools and shower benches are Class I medical devices, CE-certified and 100 % manufactured in Europe. Welded steel constructions with double powder coating reliably protect against rust and wear in daily wet use. We grant 5 years of warranty on every product, deliver stock items usually within 2–4 working days from our German central warehouse and maintain the supply flow through a reliable spare parts service.
Which shower stool is right – standard or hygiene seat?
The standard seat is closed and offers the more comfortable seating surface. The hygiene seat has a cutout at the front for intimate cleaning and drainage – the mandatory choice in professional care and rehabilitation.
Are the shower stools certified medical devices?
Yes, the entire range is CE-marked according to the EU Medical Device Regulation as Class I medical devices. They are specifically designed for daily use in clinics, nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities. Via your dealer account you can see your conditions.
Are there solutions for overweight users?
Yes. The HEAVY XXL models have a load capacity of up to 200 kg, the BERTA Shower Bench XXL even up to 300 kg. More bariatric solutions can be found under XXL aids.
What is the difference between a shower stool and a shower chair?
A shower stool has no backrest and is free-standing – compact and for more mobile users. A shower chair additionally offers a backrest and armrests for more severely restricted users.
When is a wall-mounted folding seat the better choice?
In small or level-access showers where a free-standing stool blocks the space. The folding seat is firmly mounted on the wall and folded up after use.
What is the advantage of a swivel seat?
The 360° swivel seat facilitates lateral entry over the tub edge and sitting down, without the user having to turn their entire body. Lockable in four positions.
